Wolf Seesemann’s biopic of Rodion Shchedrin features such prominent musicians as Martha Argerich, Valeri Gergiev, Mariss Jansson and Lorin Maazel. It includes the recording of a live concert at the Moscow Conservatory in 2007 of the composer’s works, given by the Russian National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Mikhail Pletnev and cellist David Geringas. The programme included symphonic études for orchestra, Dialogues with Shostakovich, Parabola Concertante for cello, string orchestra and timpani; Anna Karenina and Two Tangos by Albeniz, both for symphony orchestra.
The Foundation funded a documentary of Rodion Shchedrin achievements as a musician based upon numerous recorded interviews, concert performances and archive materials, which is available as a DVD.
