Published in Russian, English and French with an Introductory article by Anna Savelieva, the catalog of the “Dans les pas des ballets russes” (In the Steps of the Ballets Russes), exhibition, co-curated by Maya Avelicheva, President of the AVC Charity Foundation, and held in the Orangery of the Château d’Auvers Castle Museum, illustrates theater graphics from the collection of Andrey Cheglakov, of works by Konstantin Korovin, Léon Bakst, Alexandre Benois, Mstislav Dobuzhinsky, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, Boris Anisfeld, Yury Annenkov, Pavel Tchelitchew and other artists. The graphics illustrate how the most perfect synthesis of all arts (Sergei Diaghilev) — drama, dance, choreography, music, costumes and decorations — are created. Inspired by the ideology and artistic practice of the World of Art, Diaghilev’s Russian Seasons took Paris by storm in 1909 as the prelude to the Ballets Russes.
