The Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Hungarian conductor and pianist Zoltan Kocsis, opened the 5th International Annecy Classic Festival with performances of works by Franz Liszt and by Antonín Dvořák, at the Church of St. Bernadette. Outstanding pianist Denis Matsuev, artistic director of the Festival, gave a flawless interpretation of Liszt’s Second Piano Concerto and Totentanz, followed by a fiery rendition of Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances.
